BETAIN HCL is a concentrated nutritional product containing at least 98% betaine hydrochloride, designed to support metabolic efficiency, nutrient digestibility and productive performance in different animal species. Betaine acts as an important methyl donor, providing methyl groups used in metabolic reactions involved in the synthesis of amino acids, creatine, carnitine and other essential compounds. This activity contributes to normal liver function and supports the prevention of excessive fat accumulation in the liver. In animal nutrition, BETAIN HCL can help improve growth performance, feed utilisation and nutrient absorption, while contributing to a reduction in abdominal fat and a higher percentage of breast muscle in poultry. Its inclusion may also allow the partial replacement of choline and methionine, supporting more efficient and cost-effective feed formulation.
Cellular Protection and Metabolic Stability During Heat Stress
In addition to its role in methyl metabolism, betaine acts as an organic osmolyte, helping animal cells maintain normal hydration, structure and biological activity under challenging environmental and nutritional conditions. This osmoprotective effect is particularly useful during heat stress, dehydration, high salt intake and osmotic imbalance, when animal metabolism and productive performance may be negatively affected. By supporting cellular water balance and stabilising metabolic processes, BETAIN HCL helps animals maintain more consistent feed conversion, growth and productivity during stressful periods. According to the product documentation, the recommended inclusion levels include 500 g per tonne of feed for poultry for fattening, 300 g per tonne for laying hens, 500 g per tonne for calves, 30 g per dairy cow per day and 1,000 g per tonne for sheep and goats. The product is supplied in 25 kg bags and should be stored in unopened packaging in a cool, dry place because of its moisture-attracting properties.
