Liver and Transition Support – ALBA CHOLINE 25 Coated
ALBA CHOLINE 25 Coated is a highly concentrated source of microencapsulated choline chloride developed specifically for dairy cows, particularly during the transition period from three weeks before to three weeks after calving. The product contains at least 25% choline chloride, protected by a coating made from vegetable-origin fatty acids and fats with calcium carbonate. This coating helps mask the naturally bitter taste of choline chloride, improving palatability and reducing the risk of feed refusal. Choline plays a central role in lipid metabolism and supports the export of fat from the liver through the formation of very-low-density lipoproteins. Its supplementation is therefore designed to support liver health, metabolic efficiency and productive performance during a period in which dairy cows are particularly exposed to energy imbalance and hepatic stress
Protected Choline for Better Bioavailability
The microencapsulation technology used in ALBA CHOLINE 25 Coated creates solid, spheroidal microprills in which the active ingredient is dispersed within a protective lipid matrix. This structure reduces choline losses at rumen level and allows a greater proportion of the nutrient to reach the intestinal absorption site, increasing its bioavailability. By supporting the removal of fat from the liver, protected choline can help reduce hepatic triglyceride accumulation and lower the risk of fatty liver syndrome and clinical or subclinical ketosis around calving. The product also offers high flowability, minimal dust formation and excellent miscibility with complete feed, mineral feed and premixes, while maintaining its qualitative properties during pelletisation. The recommended dosage is 25–30 g per dairy cow per day, while the indicated inclusion rate for other ruminants is 100–120 g per 100 kg of complete feed.
