Heat Stress and Metabolic Support – ALBA NIACIN 50 Coated
ALBA NIACIN 50 Coated is a highly concentrated, rumen-protected source of nicotinic acid developed for dairy cows exposed to heat stress and high production demands. The product contains at least 50% niacin, dispersed within a lipid matrix made from vegetable-origin fatty acids and fats, with calcium carbonate. This protective coating limits degradation of the active ingredient in the rumen and increases its bioavailability, allowing a greater proportion of niacin to reach the site of absorption. Niacin supports vasodilation and improved blood circulation, helping cows dissipate excess body heat more efficiently during hot weather. Its use can contribute to a lower respiration rate and rectal temperature, making it particularly valuable for high-producing dairy cows, which are often more sensitive to elevated environmental temperatures and the associated decline in feed intake and performance.
Microencapsulation for Controlled Release and Feed Stability
The effectiveness of ALBA NIACIN 50 Coated is enhanced by spray-cooling microencapsulation technology, which produces solid, spheroidal microprills with the active ingredient evenly distributed inside a protective lipid matrix. This technology provides controlled release, high flowability, low dust formation and excellent miscibility with complete feeds, mineral feeds and premixes. The coating also protects niacin from external agents and reduces losses at rumen level, supporting more efficient nutrient delivery and consistent nutritional performance. The product remains stable during the pelletisation process and is insoluble in water.
