Controlled-Release Nitrogen for Ruminants – ALBA UREGRAD Coated
ALBA UREGRAD Coated is a complementary feed developed exclusively for ruminants with a fully functional rumen. The product consists of micro-granules of urea enclosed within a mineral matrix and waterproofed with a fat coating, a structure designed to regulate the solubilisation of urea after ingestion. This controlled release improves feeding safety and promotes a more efficient utilisation of non-protein nitrogen by rumen microorganisms. Each kilogram contains 865 g of urea, together with magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride, refined and hydrogenated palm oil, vitamin B2 and vitamin E. Its analytical profile includes 40.1% non-protein nitrogen, 2.9% magnesium and a crude-protein equivalent of 251%, making it a highly concentrated nitrogen source for carefully formulated ruminant diets.
Gradual Urea Release for Safer Nitrogen Utilisation
The controlled solubilisation kinetics of ALBA UREGRAD Coated help synchronise nitrogen availability with the energy supplied by easily digestible carbohydrates, supporting microbial protein synthesis and reducing the risks associated with the rapid release of conventional urea. The product must be introduced gradually and used only in diets rich in readily digestible carbohydrates and relatively low in soluble nitrogen. According to the technical specifications, no more than 30% of the total nitrogen in the daily ration should derive from urea nitrogen. The maximum permitted urea concentration in complete feed containing 12% moisture is 10 g/kg, corresponding to an inclusion rate of approximately 1% when no other source of urea is present. ALBA UREGRAD Coated is available in 25 kg bags and 1,000 kg big bags and has a shelf life of 24 months when stored in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.
